In times of political drama - should you wait to do any marketing?

In times of political drama - should you wait to do any marketing?

In times of political drama - should you wait to do any marketing?

No.

Allow me to elaborate on that.  Look - there will ALWAYS be change. Always.  I get that today’s political shenanigans and 24 hour news cycles seem to be distracting us, keeping us stuck wondering, “what is going to happen next?”  And we should be informed on the goings on in Washington because ultimately our lives and businesses could be affected.

However.

That doesn’t mean you stop doing business.  Every day you stall on your marketing efforts - whether it’s adding a PPC or SEO strategy, putting together a new logo and website, email marketing - you name it - is a day your competitor is full steam ahead and winning business.

Business as usual?  Sure - if you’re putting sales and marketing at the top of your list  Now more than ever your online presence is crucial to educating your prospects and providing them information to make an informed decision about your business. Now more than ever you have an opportunity to communicate directly with your prospects and clients through social channels, email marketing and mobile marketing.

In times of the thundering media - ask yourself these three business questions:

  1. Am I getting ahead of the competition?

  2. Is my marketing communicating the right brand promise?

  3. What else can I be doing to be seen and heard on and offline?

The answers to the questions will point you in the best direction on how to proceed with marketing.  And let the lesson be abundantly clear - despite all of the political noise - you should absolutely proceed with marketing.
